History of Development
Information is one of the most important things that every living thing must have. Especially in humans, this information is very important to interact with humans. This information is an expression or stimulation from a human being to another human being so that human beings get a mutual response. Therefore, humans begin to think of tools to make it easier for them to communicate and interact with each other.
Early humans communicate through the language of images
In prehistoric times, humans already had a way to communicate with other humans. They use images of the form they want to inform other humans. In those days, humans were familiar with forms, which they then painted on cave or stone walls. Describing an information at that time is a good way of communicating because at that time the human language was only limited to hand signals or grunts.
Then in the era of the development of recorded history, humans developed forms of symbols and letters. Symbol development (pictograph) and letters (hieroglyph) can be found to date. The ancient Egyptians wrote their information in their magnificent buildings. In the picture-shaped writings, information is stored on the daily activities of Ancient Egyptians at that time.
Writing on stone or clay is then considered primitive when paper fibers are first discovered. The paper comes from papyrus tree fibers that are stronger and more flexible than rock or soil media. So the use of paper for media writing information develops very quickly. Until the 1800s, humans could create printing machines. This printing machine which later became the beginning of the revival of the world of modern information technology today.
The use of paper and printing machines as a tool to convey information is a sophisticated step in the world of information technology. Considering information technology in the conventional form as in antiquity is not efficient and effective. The striking difference between conventional information technology and the modern one is the use of electricity as a resource for the delivery of technology. In the conventional technology, more often use human hands. Whereas in modern technology, humans are facilitated by the presence of electricity as the power of presenting information.
The Role of Information Technology in Human Life
Information technology is now an important human need. Its role is increasingly important in line with the different fields of human work that are increasingly diverse. In the military field, in particular, the development of information technology is one step ahead of the education sector. This is because in the military field, information disseminated or conveyed is strategic information that can threaten the State if it is leaked to the enemy or opponent. The importance of the information conveyed makes the development of information technology in the military field require advanced technology and extra caution so that the information does not leak.
Rapid business development demands fast information delivery as well.
But in human life in general, information technology is used in other fields, such as education, business, and medicine. The importance of information technology is basically to make it easier for people to get information. For example in the business field. Someone who works in the business field needs information that is quickly conveyed to his colleagues. So that the business can develop quickly too. Likewise with the development of information technology in the field of education. Students now no longer depend on teachers as learning resources. The internet has now become a new trend in learning resources for students.
The trend of new learning resources is very much used by students in general. For example, when students are given the task of reviewing a problem, apart from literature books, the student can get other relevant references from blog articles through the internet. Because of the many references, the study assignments of students can touch on the essence of deeper knowledge. Of course, if the student can utilize information technology properly, then the productivity of the student’s value can be increased compared to just relying on literature books as a source of learning.
